Worship

We love to worship God. We meet each Sunday at 11 am at Carmyle and Kenmuir Cornerstone Church of Scotland (formerly Kenmuir Mount Vernon Church): 2405 London Road, Glasgow G32 8XU. We want to SHARE Jesus. To gather for PRAYER, and to CARE for our parish and beyond with the love of Jesus.

We hope our Worship Services are welcoming and encouraging as we delve into the Bible together and sing hymns of praise to God. We have been told we are a friendly bunch – we hope you find that to be true.

Bible Reading Notes

We will be publishing notes each day from the Rev Campbell MacKinnon. In addition click this link for Scripture Union Daily Bible Readings.

Welcome to our Bible Reading Notes!

Please feel free to use these notes any way you choose; daily, weekly, whenever you feel like it.. if they helping you in your walk with Jesus that is all that matters. Over the years I have never been able to follow a set pattern of Bible Study – I know times when I study a lot and other times when I hardly study at all, the times I hardly study are the times when I absorb what I have learned in the days before; then I know an itch to start studying again. But that is me, you might be totally different. There is only one rule in these matters, ‘Jack Spratt could eat no fat his wife could eat no lean!’ What suits one person does not suit another! You might admire and envy those who are very disciplined in these matters and feel guilty that you are not like them but just as different plants thrive in different circumstances so we all grow and develop spiritually in different ways. Even if you read these just once a year and think ‘Wow!’ it is the ‘Wow!’ that matters.

These are not designed as cheery thoughts for the day, nor, I hope, are they the kind of notes that use the Biblical text to hang evangelical truisms on. What I hope to do is to get into the story Mark has to tell. You will notice, for example, that the opening verses of the Gospel take place in the wilderness. Understanding the meaning of the wilderness in Mark’s writing is vital if we want to understand what he is saying to us about Jesus and not jump to conclusions. I hope, in taking this approach, we will go places in the Gospel story we have never been before; exciting, inspiring thrilling places where we find our awe at the wonder at who Christ is and what He has done for us takes us to new places of worship in His presence.

So, with these few thoughts as a preface, let’s make a start. Click here.
